The Veronica Beard Gives Back (#VBGIVESBACK) program was launched in 2015 to support women and organizations that are making a difference in the world. From July through September 2022, Veronica Beard proudly partners with Operation Smile to support its mission of providing patients with lasting health through life-saving cleft surgeries and comprehensive care, helping them to better breathe, eat, speak and live lives of greater quality and confidence.
This quarter, as part of the partnership, Veronica Beard teams up again with Pritika Swarup, Operation Smile Ambassador, international fashion model, and founder & CEO of Prakti Beauty. Swarup previously participated in Veronica Beard’s Make It Happen campaign in 2021, highlighting women creating change and inspiring others in their chosen field.
In Pritika’s role as Operation Smile Ambassador, she represents the organization and raises awareness about cleft conditions through media outlets, conferences, and aligning Operation Smile with brands that she partners with.
Operation Smile has always been a part of who I am. The mission resonated with me from an early age, and my passion for the cause only grew with time. I understood the challenges that craniofacial conditions create; not just the physical ramifications including difficulty eating, speaking, and breathing, but the emotional and social impacts as well. I feel fortunate to have built a platform to use my voice and bring awareness to causes that are most meaningful to me.

In June, Swarup traveled to Peru with Operation Smile for their Women in Medicine program. This surgical program was performed solely by female volunteers and aims to promote the next generation of women leaders in the health sector by cultivating a platform that promotes opportunities for their career development through training, leadership and mentoring programs.
By highlighting their stories and experiences with Operation Smile, we believe we can inspire girls and young women to pursue careers in medicine and demonstrate the impact they can have on our programs. Women in Medicine participants will have the opportunity to participate in trainings, mentoring sessions and workshops that will generate an immediate benefit to our patients and the health systems of the countries where we work.
