The week-long annual conference for high school students involved in Operation Smile’s Student Programs is held at various locations around the world and this year hosted over 200 participants representing 23 countries. ISLC helps students develop and strengthen their leadership skills and character, provides training on how to help people in developing countries, and exposes students to different cultures. The impact of this year’s ISLC on the student participants has been evident from the start. Nisa Ardat, Align Technology scholarship recipient from Ghana said, “Align is doing so much, providing opportunities for us. For those of us who probably could not have been able to join without Align, we were able to come and meet with students from around the world to talk about cleft lip and cleft palate surgery."
