Self-sustainability is essential to Operation Smile’s medical mission model and future. Our vision is to support our international foundations and volunteers as they treat more children safely and effectively by providing quality medical education in a variety of formats.
With programs like the American Heart Association training courses, the curriculum workshops and our annual Physicians' Training Program and Nurses Training Program, we deliver important skills and knowledge around the world. We work closely with Operation Smile foundations to determine in-country volunteer interests and needs, and then develop courses and materials to satisfy their interests and meet their needs.
In order to reach all current and potential volunteers with current training programs, Operation Smile’s Education and Research departments have established an eLearning website and multidisciplinary online training manual for medical professionals to access the necessary information at their convenience. Many of the presentations available online are part of Operation Smile's curriculum workshops and many others go beyond the scope of the workshops.
Visit the eLearning website to learn more about cleft and craniofacial surgery and care. Some of these materials are password protected and to be accessed by Operation Smile medical volunteers only. A password may be requested here.
