Charles Seliger, an artist whose paintings made him one of the most distinctive artists of the first-generation Abstract Expressionists, died from a stroke in Manhattan on Oct. 1. As a result of their heartfelt connection with Operation Smile, the Seliger’s have decided to list Operation Smile as the charity of benefit for the memorial held Nov. 22 at 4 p.m. at the New York Historical Society in New York City.

Hong Kong-born actor and martial artist Jackie Chan arrived in Hanoi, Vietnam, on November 4 to participate in Operation Smile Vietnam's 20th Anniversary celebration, “A Journey of Miracles.” Chan, who is an Ambassador for Operation Smile, spent the day at Hanoi’s Vietnam-Cuba Hospital visiting children with cleft lips and cleft palates.

In August, Operation Smile unveiled its new online youth community to over 400 student leaders gathered at the International Leadership Conference (ISLC). This new community, called OS Central, is a place for students to connect with friends and other students from around the world who are committed to the same cause.
