Operation Smile to Webcast Live From the Red Carpet at 8th Annual Smile Gala in Los Angeles

Operation Smile, a worldwide children’s medical charity, will stream live red carpet interviews from their 8th annual Smile Gala on October 2, 2009. The event, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, will feature honorees Roselyn Sanchez and Eric Winter, as well as the Simpson family: Jessica, Ashlee, Tina and Joe Simpson. Access Hollywood host Billy Bush will serve as Master of Ceremonies. This webcast event is part of Operation Smile’s continued focus to use innovative and emerging media to raise awareness for children suffering from cleft lips and cleft palates around the world.

Operation Smile’s official Twitter Smile Ambassador, Stefanie Michaels, aka Adventure Girl, will host the red carpet event while Justin.tv streams celebrities’ entrances on the red carpet live. Michaels is an internet pioneer and her travel tips and personal stories have appeared in People Magazine, Self, The New York Times and is a regular contributor to The Huffington Post. Michaels has also appeared on CNN, E! Entertainment, Planet Green and many major U.S. network affiliates.

The Smile Gala is co-chaired by Dayna and Steven Bochco, Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, Vicky and Raphael Mense, Kelly and Ron Meyer, Mary Jo and General Richard Myers, and Leslie and Robert Zemeckis. International teen singing sensation Charice Pempengco will perform. Operation Smile Ambassador Nicole Lapin of CNN will host an auction alongside Andrea Fiuczynski, President of Christie’s Los Angeles.
