Retired Farmer Bequeaths Nearly $1 Million to Operation Smile July 1, 2009
Henry Smith, a Chesapeake farmer, passed away in October 2008, leaving approximately $1 million in cash and property to Operation Smile. His Cape Henry Towers condo in Virginia Beach is currently available for sale for $299,000 and all proceeds will benefit Operation Smile.

Delbarton School, a college prep school for boys in grades 7-12 in Morristown, in conjunction with Operation Smile’s New Jersey Chapter, held the 8th Annual Roberta C. Ferguson Memorial Father and Son Golf Tournament on June 11 at the Fox Hollow Country Club in Branchburg, N.J.

Operation Smile Vietnam Black-Tie Gala and Art Auction June 30, 2009
On May 23, Operation Smile Vietnam held its 11th annual art auction at the Park Hyatt Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City. The black-tie dinner and art auction was attended by 320 guests, a record number, who helped raise more than $100,000 for Operation Smile Vietnam’s programs.

Schwartz's Malibu Spa Holds Fundraiser for Operation Smile June 23, 2009
Veronica Barton Schwartz, along with Dr. Milan Shah and Dr. Darshan Shah, held a grand opening for the Beautologie Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center and the Veronica Tai Chi and Yoga Studio on May 14. The grand opening also served as a fundraiser for Operation Smile.

From May 11-13, 2009, Operation Smile completed its first medical education program in Santo Domingo. Hosted by Operation Smile Dominican Republic, 60 Dominican medical professionals from across the country received training in the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) program at the Armed Forces Central Hospital in Santo Domingo.

The 6th annual Smile Event, a premiere dinner and specialty live auction, was held in New York City on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Cipriani Wall Street. The Operation Smile benefit raised awareness for children around the world suffering from cleft lips and cleft palates. Proceeds from the event will benefit the children’s medical charity’s efforts in providing free surgery to children and young adults around the world.

Operation Smile Launches '1,000 Smiles' Campaign in Utah May 7, 2009
