Divith’s mother was devastated when her son was born with a cleft lip and a cleft palate. She knew his future would be painful, but felt helpless to save him. There simply was no money. Then she learned that Operation Smile might repair her son’s facial deformity with a free surgery. She borrowed money and took an 8-hour ride in a crowded van to get him to the medical mission in Phnom Penh. Her efforts weren’t in vain. Divith emerged from the surgery with a sweet, new smile. Four months later, his elated mother said, “I don’t know how to say thank you enough… Divith can now eat, drink, speak and smile.”
