David
When David was born with a terrible cleft lip, his mother worried. She worried that he wouldn’t live because he had trouble eating and drinking. She worried that if he did survive he’d be ridiculed and traumatized. And she worried because she knew she’d never have enough money to pay for the surgery to correct his facial deformity.
It seemed like a miracle when she learned that Operation Smile would be coming to a clinic in her hometown of Guadalajara to operate on children just like David. She took the boy to the mission site and was overjoyed when he was chosen for surgery. In little more than 45 minutes, David’s lip was repaired. A few days later, he could laugh and grin- and all of his mother’s worries vanished.
Now her beautiful boy can face the world with confidence and a big, bright smile.
