Non-Profit Donations Lead Global Change

Non-profit donations drive an astounding amount of change in local communities and around the world. The best charities strive to make the most of the non-profit donations they receive through a combination of aid and efforts to increase awareness for their cause. 

Every year, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation chooses a winner among nominated best charities. The accomplishments Operation Smile was able to achieve due to non-profit donations earned it the first $1 Million Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize in 1996. Among some of the other best charities that received this award in subsequent years were the International Rescue Committee, the African Medical and Research Foundation, and SOS Children’s Villages.

Operation Smile stood out among the best charities again in 1999 when it won the Kellog’s Hannah Neil World of Children Award. We accepted this honor for all of those who selflessly gave the non-profit donations that drove the success of the Operation Smile mission. 

In 1999, non-profit donations helped Operation Smile conduct the “World Journey of Hope”, an initiative to repair the cleft lip and palate facial deformities of more than 5,000 children in 19 countries in 9 weeks. It is the collaborative effort of the volunteers and those who generously offer non-profit donations that has made Operation Smile one of the best charities worldwide.

With the average cost of a cleft lip repair operation being only $240, every person who donates makes an incredible impact on another human life. The best charities don’t take the credit for the success themselves. It is the generosity of non-profit donations from supporters and the talented team of plastic surgeons that donate their time that have brought smiles to the faces of more than 100,000 children worldwide.
