Megan Follows, a Canadian/American actress, is most known to international audiences for her role as Anne Shirley in the acclaimed 1985 Canadian television miniseries "Anne of Green Gables" and its two sequels.
Follows gained a substantial fan following for her portrayal of the popular literary character. Her performances earned her two Gemini awards as best actress for the first two miniseries, "Anne of Green Gables" and "Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel," and a Gemini nomination for the third Anne installment, "Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story."
“Every child deserves to live without the pain and shame of a facial deformity," Follows said. "Operation Smile’s medical teams of volunteers are dedicated to this cause. But dedication isn’t enough. We need the help of caring Canadians like you to help provide surgery to more children. Together, we can release children from the pain of being an outcast.”
Among her many humanitarian efforts, Follows volunteers her time as a Smile Ambassador and spokesperson for Operation Smile in Canada. In June of 2010, Follows volunteered for an Operation Smile medical mission in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic where she witnessed firsthand the life-changing work of Operation Smile.
