Our Celebration:

To commemorate a quarter-century of providing new smiles, Operation Smile is launching the World Journey of Smiles, a multi-faceted initiative that will increase the number of children served each year. World Journey of Smiles will propel Operation Smile into the next 25 years, ensuring its success by giving our partner countries the necessary knowledge, expertise, and equipment to treat children in their own countries year round.

The World Journey of Smiles: 25 Countries to Celebrate 25 Years

In November 2007, around the world, on the same day, at the same local time, we will conduct 40 missions in 25 countries, with the hope of treating an estimated 5,000 children with facial deformities.

Comprehensive Care Centers: Building Self-Sufficiency

In Colombia, Honduras, Morocco, India, the Philippines, Vietnam, and China, Operation Smile Comprehensive Care Centers will work locally and regionally to:

Perform surgeries and administer treatment (total care)
Educate medical volunteers regionally
Strengthen local development and fundraising activities
Manage regional communications and administrative support services

Implementing a Global Standard of Care: The Highest Standard. Every Child. Every Time.

For its anniversary year, Operation Smile announces a plan to implement Global Standards of Care for all of its medical programs as a commitment to ensuring that every patient treated by Operation Smile will benefit from the same sophisticated equipment, procedures, and highly trained and credentialed medical staff, no matter where they receive care around the world. All Operation Smile operating rooms will be equipped with the most up-to-date medical and surgical equipment. Additionally, Operation Smile is providing emergency supplies in accordance with the American Heart Association to support pediatric and advanced cardiac life support.

Medical Diplomacy: Bringing People Together Through a Passion for Children

As part of its ongoing effort to create a global humanitarian network to bring healing to the world's children, Operation Smile will also host international forums on medical diplomacy.
